About the immunoassay of Pregnanediol-3-glucuronide
The determination of serum level of 17β-estradiol (E2) and progesterone (P) by immunoassay has accepted as a reliable method for monitoring ovulation induction and in vitro fertilization. However, this method is poorly accepted by patients because of need of frequent clinic visits for repetitive and painful blood sampling.
Compared with the blood sampling, immunoassay of urine E3G (Estrone-3-glucuronide) and P3dG (Pregnanediol-3-glucuronide) provides a practical alternative for rapid, accurate and simple fertility monitoring due to the non-invasive and more convenient urine sampling. It makes the designing of POCT devices for ovulation monitoring more feasible, especially when combined with creatinine correction of the E3G and P3dG concentration.
